Our Company
The context within which we live and work is continuously changing with the only certainty being that of change. Yesterday’s solutions are not effective for today’s challenges and today’s solutions are only as relevant as to the extent that it considers the past, speaks to the present, while at the same time responding to the future.
Extent and speed of change provides unique challenges to organisations. It reveals the flexibility and agility of the organisation to change, as well as the ability and readiness of the leaders within the organisation to lead change. Change therefore affects organisations on many levels. Wynoma Michaels Consult is able to provide clients with a range of services and expertise to assist them with the change that they are experiencing and need to experience.
Wynoma Michaels Consult was established in 2010 after realising the need for these services within the South African context. The consultancy has an extensive pool of expertise that it is able to pair with the needs of the client.
Wynoma Michaels Consult is BEE compliant business and committed to equal opportunities for all South Africans.
Our Goals
Our goal is to equip organisations with the skills and capacity to perform optimally with results that are sustainable.
Our Methodology
The methodological approaches of the Consultancy are Dialogue, Small Group Interaction, Appreciative Inquiry, Experiential Learning and Reflective Thinking.
Dialogue
The essence of Dialogue is to listen with an open mind, open heart and open will and in the process be willing to change and have your opinion transformed. Wynoma Michaels Consult uses dialogue as a tool to:
- Facilitate listening rather than hearing
- Allow all the voices to be heard
- Encourage conversation rather than debate
- Create understanding of content and context
Small Group Interaction
Smaller groups provide the opportunities for experiential learning, monitoring of smaller group dynamics, comparison of different leadership styles, optimal sharing and feedback. Small groups allow people to be open to react positively, as well as negatively, while allowing for individual anonymity to be maintained.
Experiential Learning
Experiential learning is about learning through experiences. The approach is to create opportunities (e.g. in training or workshops) for people to learn through dialogue, experience, reflection and critical analysis. Life situations and experience seems to be the richest resources for people to learn. Experiential learning therefore forms an integral part of learning processes.
Appreciative Inquiry
Appreciative inquiry, very simplistically, argues that in our effort to learn, we are limited by our tendency to focus on correcting mistakes in an attempt to learn from them in what should and should not be done.
Appreciative inquiry states that we learn faster and more effectively by focussing on what works. This means that we focus and explore existing skills and successes rather than continuously analysing the mistakes.
In this approach, we assume that within any organisation or conflict, something can be found that already works. It uses language that creates a positive reality. We pose questions to engage constructively.
This approach enables a shared space for engagement towards solutions.
Reflective Thinking
Through reflection, deep consideration is given to things to which otherwise might not have been given much thought. Reflection is concerned with consciously looking at and thinking about our experiences, actions, feelings and responses and then interpreting or analysing them so as to learn from them. This assists people in making sense of their experiences and actions and creates a process of learning.
